Ruger Precision Rimfire Description
A remix of Ruger’s Precision Rifle, an absolute hit that made the market of precision shooting accessible to a wider audience, the Precision Rimfire offers all the hallmarks of its predecessor, together with some improvements for those who need more accuracy in their shooting adventures.
This remarkable Ruger 22 bolt action rifle is a molded, one-piece chassis that brings the big-gun experience to the rimfire world. The chassis, as well as the adjustable buttstock assembly, are manufactured using glass-filled nylon, and this provides the strength, stiffness and stability that translates to a solid foundation for shot-after-shot accuracy with the Ruger Precision Rimfire which is unarguably one of the best rimfire rifles available.
Bear in mind that the adjustable buttstock comes with a flat Picatinny bag rider which makes it easy to attach a rear monopod. It also features a molded-in window that provides a convenient tether point for a squeeze bag, in addition to a metal QD pocket which makes it easy to secure a sling to the Precision Ruger rifle.
![Ruger Precision Rimfire Adjustable Stock](https://armsintel.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/adjustable-stock-768x538.jpg)
The buttstock isn’t the only component of this firearm that is adjustable – the bolt which handle is oversized for positive bolt manipulation, and the trigger, also are.
Big-Gun bolt throw adjustment enables you to change from a rimfire 1-1/2” bolt throw to a short-action centerfire 3″ bolt throw, and this minimizes the chances of you short-stroking the Ruger Precision Rimfire bolt during competition.
The Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ trigger, which typically breaks at an average of 2 pounds, 9 ounces, is externally adjustable; this means you can adjust the trigger pull within a range of 2.25 to 5 pounds, and for this purpose Ruger provided a wrench which can be found in a compartment on the buttstock.
Hollow, with a somewhat smooth texture, the Precision Rimfire grip is in the standard AR-15 style; this AR-Pattern pistol grip that is almost at a 45-degree angle provides an extended reach for maximum control and access to the reversible safety selector installed just above it on both sides of the competition rifle. The firearm may also be configured with most AR-style grips and selectors.

More features of the Ruger Precision Rimfire include a cold hammer-forged barrel threaded for standard muzzle accessories like the Silent-SR® suppressor; a 15″ aluminum free-float handguard with convenient Magpul® M-LOK® slots; and an anodized Picatinny scope base offering 30 MOA elevation for increased long-range capabilities out of the box.
While it accepts all 10/22® magazines, this Ruger bolt action 22 rifle ships with one, 15-round BX-15® magazine. Note that magazine capacity isn’t the same for all variants of the weapon.

Precision Rimfire Additional Information
Barrel
As mentioned earlier, this firearm’s target barrel is cold hammer-forged from 1137 alloy steel, and this cold hammer-forging process creates ultra-precise rifling which greatly contributes to the excellent accuracy that the Ruger Precision 22 offers.
Bear in mind that the 1/2″-28 threaded barrel comes with a factory-installed thread protector that covers the threads as well as the crown; this barrel can also be replaced with ease by a competent gunsmith using AR-style wrenches and headspace gauges.
Handguard
The Magpul® M-LOK® slots featured on all four sides of the Ruger Precision Rimfire handguard are for improved scope clearance with regard to long-range scopes, and for easy mounting of M-LOK-compatible rails and accessories.
The aluminum handguard is hard coat anodized, and this treatment or finish provides improved surface hardness, as well as abrasion and corrosion resistance.
Stock Adjustability
The Quick-Fit Precision Rimfire stock allows both length of pull and comb height to be adjusted with speed and ease to get a proper or ideal fit over a wide range of shooter sizes, outerwear and shooting positions. This adjustment can be done through the use of a simple toggle, and any new setting or position stays securely locked in.
With the help of indicating marks molded into the Ruger Precision chassis, you can quickly return to a previous position.
.22 Caliber Advantages
22 LR rimfire rounds are not known to produce heavy recoil or a loud report, and as a result, they are ideal as training ammo.
In general, the .22 LR caliber lends itself to greater overall precision, especially when shot through a bolt action rifle such as the Ruger Precision Rimfire.
One more advantage is that, compared to large caliber rounds, even higher-end rimfire rounds are quite affordable.

Ruger Precision Rimfire Reviews
Reviews available online support the view that this Ruger 22 bolt action is one of the best 22lr rifles, and for some, the best rimfire rifle. Below are some of these reviews:

“This style of rimfire has it all. The theaded HB keeps all my shots WELL under MOA. The adj trigger and stock are all a major plus. I love this rifle. I bought all 3 rimfires; .22 LR, .22 mag and .17HMR. The .22 LR does not like CCI Stingers. But I’m running Ely subs through a can, so no issue here anyway. Highly recommend. Trails end for rimfire.”

“Very accurate and fun to shoot. Must use a quality scope.. I have only complainant is the mag release. I like an extended one but they are not available at the present.”

“Cost more than most 22 lr but its worth it. YOU WILL LOVE THIS. Check FULL video review.”

“This rifle has a very nice cold hammer forged barrel. It’s the nicest I’ve seen on any .22 rifle. A nice two stage trigger, a very adjustable butt stock (as you can see in the pictures), it utilizes 10-22 magazines. has a very nice, heavy and smooth lever action bolt. I’ve owned a lot of nice rifles and the fit, feel and quality of the Precision Rimfire feels more like a $600 – $800 competition rifle, not a $350-$380 rifle (which is practically the dealer cost). I highly recommend this rifle, especially at this price. It is an excellent bargain.”

“Zereod it in at 50 yards and it’s a tack-driver! Heavy frame means so little kick. Super comfortable to shoot and always fun with the bolt action. Looks mean… Love this gun!”

“Quite possibly the most fun firearm I’ve purchased. I always have a good experience with PSA whether I’m ordering online or browsing in store. I never thought I would have this much fun with a .22LR. After zero, walked out to 100 yards dialed up 5.25 MOA and it was spot on. I can’t wait to shoot at further distances with this rifle. Whether hunting squirrel, rabbit, plinking, competition, or using this as a trainer for other long range rifles the Ruger Precision Rimfire is perfect. The adjustable LOP and comb height could not be better. Can be adjusted down to fit anyone with small arms and out far enough to fit your average male ( 5’11 200lbs ). I’ve got about 300 rounds through it an have no complaints yet. If you are in an awkward position and there is a forward or aft pressure on the magazine that could cause a feed issue when pushing the bolt forward, but that is easily remedied by jiggling the mag to center it. This rifle is well suited for professionals and weekend plinkers alike. I would recommend this rifle to anyone in the market for a bolt action .22LR”

“I was looking for a mag fed, bolt action .22 to start teaching my boys the fundamentals of shooting. The big boy versions of this gun have a great reputation and this one takes 10/22 mags that I already own, so it seemed like a no brainer to try it out. I’m sure glad I did. Took me 2 rounds to get zeroed. When it was time for my oldest (11) to get behind the glass, it didn’t disappoint. His first shoots and he was hitting steel at 100 yards, then 200. I was impressed with the gun and my boy. They are picky when it comes to ammo if you want the tightest groups possible. They really seem to like ELEY ammo. Sub MOA is not unrealistic. The 2 star review guy was using they wrong ammo. CCI is just a plinking round to this gun.”
