P226 XFive Description
With an all new P226 X Five, Sig Custom Works has not only brought back the same legendary performance and precision which made the original P226-XFIVE to be quickly recognized the world over as the ultimate target pistol, but has also introduced a wide array of modern enhancements.
Built on the venerable P226 platform and designed for maximum performance, the Single-Action Only, 9mm Sig 226 XFive is equipped with a 5-inch bull barrel made of carbon steel, and which helps to reduce recoil and enhance accuracy; this is supported by a large stainless steel frame which further dampens recoil, helping to ensure that a smooth, flawless action and unrivaled accuracy is what the P226 XFive consistently delivers, even under usage conditions that are not optimal.
The slide, also made of stainless steel, sports front and rear serrations which provide positive traction for the shooter’s fingers to make manipulation easy. Designed to be optic-ready, this slide boasts an adjustable Dawson-style rear sight plate, and has a high-visibility fiber-optic sight mounted at the front for fast target acquisition with the P226 X5 pistol.
Thanks to the featured SAO AX3 trigger which is fully adjustable for pull weight and over-travel, as well as a trigger shoe that is removeable and adjustable for length-of-pull (LOP), the handgun can be tuned or adapted to any shooter’s preference.
Overall, an exceptionally light, crisp and clean pull, and a fast reset that promotes instantaneous follow-up shots, is what you can expect from the Sig P226X5 trigger with its innovative “3-position” design.
A thumb safety switch is present on both sides of the firearm, ensuring that both right and left handed users can have more control over when it fires.
For a comfortable and secure grasp on it, a set of Custom Hogue Cocobolo grips have been equipped on this Classic model of the P226 XFive. Apart from a good grip, these grips provide excellent ergonomics and gives the handgun a timelessly classic appearance.
Within the grip frame is the housing for a steel magazine able to accommodate up to 20 rounds of 9mm ammo. Three (3) magazines in total, each featuring an alloy basepad, ship with this model of the Sig 226 XFive Classic.

P226 XFive Additional Information
Gun History
The original P226 X Five was a high-end target pistol manufactured by the expert gunsmiths at Sig Sauer’s Master Shop in Germany. This handgun has, for the past two decades, enjoyed a reputation for accuracy and an excellent trigger, but unfortunately it was almost impossible to obtain in the United States.
With the all new Sig P226X5 recently introduced and now being built in the US, however, Sig Sauer has made the legendary handgun easily available to the residents of the country, with not just the same popular features – such as the trigger – of the original, but also new improvements.
Frame
Thanks to the 4-slot 1913 accessory rail built into the frame of the P226 XFive, you can conveniently mount your choice of aftermarket accessories, like lights or lasers, to the handgun in order to enhance performance in certain usage conditions.
Front Sight
The high-visibility fiber-optic sight installed on the slide of the Sig 226 XFive features optical fibers which are partially exposed in order for them to absorb natural or ambient light and transmit same to the front sight post, creating an aiming point that is brightly illuminated.
Fiber optic sights are ideal for use in daylight scenarios, rather than in low light or dark environments.
Rear Sight Plate
The adjustable Dawson-style rear sight plate which the P226 XFive boasts as an optic-ready handgun allows for the quick and secure installation of a red dot sight on its slide. This sight plate or mount can be removed so that a ROMEO1PRO, ROMEO2, or any other optic can be direct-mounted using the standard PRO footprint.

Sig 226 XFive Reviews
Many positive reviews are available all over the web for this pistol. Following are just a couple of them to get you started. We have chosen to post the really detailed ones so you can have a better idea of what some users’ experience have been with the P226 XFive:
“The finish is excellent, the slide fitment is excellent, the trigger pull, weight, reset, are adjustable and once set to my preferred settings is excellent. Love the smoothness of the slide, the fitness of the magazines, and the target sights are excellent. I installed a Romeo 1 Pro to maximize its accuracy potential that has not proved to be the best decision! Purchased the Romeo 1 pro directly from Sig and installed according to the instructions torquing all screws and battery cap to factory specifications. My first range day produced excellent groups with the red dot. The second trip was a bust when the red dot failed to turn on, dead battery! So the negatives… when you install a red dot you have three holes at the rear of the sight. Sig says that in the next few years they might offer a rear sight to offer co-witnessing. The finish on the barrel looks like it is chipping off, not sure what’s going on with that but a stainless Bull barrel might have been a better choice for Sig on their top of the line Custom shop firearm. These are both cosmetic issue and do not affect the performance of the pistol. The Romeo1 Pro … probably not the best choice optic to put on this firearm, I own two Romeo1 Pro red dots and both of them had battery issues within two months after installation. Both guns are stored in the safe and not my edc firearm, so I really did not expect the batteries to fail after only one range trip. I have other non Sig optics that have not had short term battery failures. I love this pistol and I am very happy with it, It is my second most accurate handgun (P210 Target gets the top spot). This is a beautiful pistol!”
“I’ve wanted the German made XFIVE for as long as I remember, but the price and the process of trying to import a German made firearm into the US was just too much. When I heard that Sig was closing down it’s German operations where the XFIVE had been built, I thought my dream had ended. I was ecstatic to hear that the XFIVE would be built in the US.
Finally, I have my own XFIVE. I purchased the STAS and couldn’t be happier (well there is one thing, but later). The workmanship is top notch and the whole pistol just oozes class. It came through the build process perfectly. It has a perfect finish, no machine marks, and the fit and operation couldn’t be better. The trigger is fantastic which no doubt helps with it’s amazing accuracy.
Now the one complaint. The standard sights are fantastic, but I had thought about installing a red dot. The one thing holding that back is that when the optics plate is removed it reveals on top of the slide just rearward of the plate three unexplained holes. Having these unused holes on top of the slide detract greatly from the appearance of the pistol. I guess I’m just too particular, but it just looks tacky and ruins the looks of an otherwise beautiful firearm.
I was told by Sig customer service that the holes are there to be able to install a rear iron sight when a red dot is installed. That’s great, but when will that part be made available? The XFIVE has been available for months now. Please Sig, get on the ball and come out with the new rear sight. Go ahead, make the Sig Sauer XFIVE perfect.”
