RIP Rounds 45 ACP Description
The G2 Research RIP (Radically Invasive Projectile) is a state-of-the-art fracturing round made of solid copper. Engineered for maximum efficiency, this hollow-point bullet utilizes proven trocar geometry to pierce through tissue and organs.
The tip of the bullet is in form of eight trocar-shaped petals which, upon impact, act similar to a holesaw.
Even though the RIP 45 ACP is a hollow-point round, it acts like a full metal jacket (FMJ) one on impact with solid objects, and as the bullet passes through soft tissue it expends its energy.
This bullet will exit from the muzzle of your handgun with a velocity of 960 fps and energy of 332 ft/lbs, and its design makes easy entry possible by reducing the deceleration of the RIP .45 ammo at the point of impact; this results to the conservation of potential energy, and thus a deadly kinetic energy wave is delivered.
Great for performance and protection purposes, the dependable lead-free projectile is encased in a brass cartridge case, which also incorporates a centerfire primer.

45 RIP Rounds Additional Information
Design & Construction
The bullet is precision-machined from a solid bar of copper. While machined geometries create weaker cross sections that fail or fracture predictably under certain loads, the machined features of the RIP 45 ACP are not just engineered to create weak points in the structure.
Geometry is the key variable in the concept of this bullet technology. The trocars and other machined features play a key role in barrier penetration and where the energy is dissipated. Through hard, semi hard and soft mediums, the performance of the G2 Research RIP projectile is optimized by the result of how the geometry is presented in relation to its travel direction.
With G2 Research’s design there is a broader range of angles where the round maintains trajectory, whereas the more conventional projectile shape shows a higher propensity to glance as its rounded nose comes in contact with obstacles at lesser angles.
Primer Type
45 RIP rounds feature a boxer primer. Due to their ease of reloading, boxer primers are the preferred choice among military and civilian ammo manufacturers. Boxer-primed ammunition is also non-corrosive, which is another reason they are popular.
Primer Style
Because it sits right in the center of the casing base, the primer which the RIP 45 ACP features is called a “Centerfire” primer. Centerfire ammo, as opposed to rimfire ammunition, is significantly more powerful, and therefore causes more damage on impact with the target.
Lead-Free Bullet
Lead-free rounds have some advantages; perhaps the most significant is that they retain most of their mass and produce very little or no fragments, making them more effective at causing larger wound channels than normal lead bullets.
Lead-free ammunition such as the RIP rounds 45 ACP is also non-toxic, which is why they are usually preferred for applications such as range shooting and hunting.
